The Sean Mac Diarmada Cottage is located in Corranmore, a few kilometres outside the village of Kiltyclogher and is maintained in its original condition as a National Monument by the OPW since 1964, writes Martin Branagan.
The homestead consists of three buildings, the cottage, the dairy and the byre and commands an impressive view across the valley. The interior of the MacDiarmada family home is an impressive example of a traditional Irish cottage and is incredibly atmospheric.
Admission to the Heritage Centre and tours of the MacDiarmada house are free. Tours normally commence from the Heritage Centre which is open from Tuesday-Friday 10.00 am-4.00pm. However, tours can start from the Cottage by arrangement.
Tours of the interior of the MacDiarmada house normally take an hour, with the last tour starting at 3.00pm. Prior booking is therefore recommended.
