Gulladoo Lough

Gulladoo Lough

A prolific fishery in two parts – Upper and Lower Gulladoo – with easy access, comfortable banks and lots of fish to be caught, writes Martin Branagan.

Bream are present in both sections, though roach, hybrids and perch tend to be most dominant in the Upper Lake.

This wasn’t always the case and the bank facing the new car park was outstanding for bream but little use by anglers in recent years has led to neglect and the access path is overgrown!

Pole, feeder or waggler, will catch fish. Bream are more common on the Lower Lake where a spot of pre-baiting, followed up crumb feeder fishing with worm, corn and caster will work best.

Martin Branagan is a co-founder of LeitrimExperience.ie and is passionate about promoting Leitrim as a tourist destination. Under the LoveLeitrim banner, Martin is touring the county in search of its hidden gems.
