Gortinty Lake

Gortinty Lake

Gortinty Lake covers 60 acres and is brimful of Tench to 3lbs, Hybrids, Roach, Bream to 3lbs and skimmers. The lake can also produce good Pike fishing, writes Martin Branagan.

You will find 12 bank pegs on the eastern shore along the N4. Here you can fish into 8 feet of water.

If you take the by-road off the N4 along the southern shore you will find 15 shore pegs where you can  fish into 12 feet of water. Access is across private land and you are asked to have respect for the landowners property. The Shannon Fisheries Board has 6 stiles accessing this lake.

Gortinty is along the N4, 5 miles east of Carrick-on-Shannon.
