Drumkeeran is situated in drumlin hills at the foot of Corry Mountain, just north of Lough Allen, writes Martin Branagan.
Throughout at least the 19th and 20th centuries, a number of annual fairs were held at Drumkeeran on 10 February, 8 March, 12 April, 27 May, 18 June (or 24th), 19 July, 18 August, 16 September, 19 October, 11 November, 9 December, and 22 December.
The Drumkeerin Heritage Centre celebrates the history of the area with a beautifully reconstructed Irish cottage and farmyard and is worth a visit.
Experience history and heritage at Drumkeerin Heritage Centre, where new additions like the coffee shop (open since June 1999) and the resource centre, with photocopying and fax facilities available, are sure to pique your curiosity and teach you a thing or two about the region.
The Drumkeerin Heritage Centre’s Irish cottage and farmyard includes a traditional sweat house, pig sty, old style garden, agricultural machinery, artifacts, and a craft shop. It is surrounded by scenic mountains, lakes, and woods.
