Drumgilra Lake is situated just off the N4 about 8 kms from Carrick-on-Shannon, writes Martin Branagan.
Drumgilra Lake, known locally as Gortinty Lake, covers 60 acres and is brimful of Tench to 3lbs, Hybrids, Roach, Bream to 3lbs and skimmers. The lake can also produce good Pike fishing.
You will find 12 bank pegs on the eastern shore along the N4. Here you can fish into 8 feet of water.
If you take the by-road off the N4 along the southern shore you will find 15 shore pegs where you can fish into 12 feet of water.
Access is across private land and you are asked to have respect for the landowners property. The Shannon Fisheries Board has 6 stiles accessing this lake.
