Charley Farrelly’s Bar in Carrigallen is one of a handful of landmark pubs in the county that can trace their history back more than 100 years, writes Martin Branagan
Farrelly’s lineage dates back at least to 1798, but it could be older. The pub is known locally for its hospitality and friendly owner and staff.
It also has a great reputation for live music, and hosts a famous folk club on the first Friday of every month .
Said locally to be Ireland’s oldest traditional bar, it is the spiritual home of the Corn Mill Theatre.
